Not sure how you arrived at this site. May be the googles and yahoos of the world connected us or may be I have personally met you in the past at some function or were introduced by a common friend. Either way, thank you for visiting my site.
If you are interested in knowing more about who I am and what I do. Here is a small synopsis:

My life can be divided into two innings, two halves or two parts or two phases. ..There is one thing that is common across these two phases, i.e Social Change.
My name is Saripalli Venkata Rama Rao. I was born in 1934 in Orissa (India), pursued my education in a small town Chatrpaur in Ganjam Orissa and obtained Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Berhampur University and Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Utkal University as non collegiate student.

At the young age of 16 just within three weeks of passing Matriculation exam, I joined the Ganjam district Police Office in 1950 as a clerk and later in 1954 I was appointed as Steno Sub-Inspector of Police and after rendering a little over 42 years service in various capacities in different branches, namely, Police, Vigilance and Central Intelligence with the avowed goal in life: eradicate crime, injustice, oppression etc from the society Finally I retired from Orissa Police Service-Senior Class I in the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police from the Holy City of Puri, the abode of Lord Jagannath In recognition of my meritorious services.

I was awarded the prestigious Indian Police Medal for Meritorious service (1992) , “Sukruti”Award (1987) and “Kautilya” Award(1988).
Upon my superannuation from the police department, in the latter phase of my life I started devoting more time towards literature and poetry, again with a goal to bring changes in the society, this time with the power of a pen.
Are Poets born?

My father late S.L.N.Rowe was a poet who left a host of poems in a short period of his existence. During my High School career I edited two manuscript Magazines and took keen interest for promotion of Telugu and English literature.

I was Secretary of High School Debating Society I had the same opportunity of serving as Secretary of the Debating Society in the Police Training College, Angul (Orissa) where I had undergone the S.I’s Course of Training. Due to this back ground and founding the Telugu Cultural Association in my home town Chatrapur, the Andhra Cultural Association, Berhampur awarded me the title “Andhra Keats” in 2005 while in the year 2007 I was elected President of this organisation, a rare honour given to an outsider of Berhampur.
Literature & poetry were hidden in me for a long time and they were looking for an outlet, I think, all along. My police work kept me busy all these years. Now in my 75th year I am making all efforts to reach out to as many people as I can in all walks of society across geographical frontiers and multifarious cultures.

This blog will help me achieve my goal in life. Here is a brief list of my literary works:

  • The “Aditya Hridayam”(2004)
  • Surya Ramayan Bala Kanda” in English (awaiting publication),
  • Translation of Telugu Poems “Shakuntala” & “Tati Chettu” of Late Dr.Bezawada Gopala Reddy, into English.
  • “Vikram Betal” satirical stories
  • Translated Oriya poems of Sri Jadunath Dash Mohapatra, (Former Education Minister, Orissa) into English.
  • “The Ten Commandments of Love” “O! Mother” and “Our Marriage Day” have been published in Anthologies in USA

I currently hold several active positions in various Literary, Cultural and Social organization across Orissa (India), besides spending much time in writing, educating and counselling Police officers and enthusiasts of literature.
I am Honorary Founder President of Telugu Cultural Association, Chatrapur, President of Andhra Cultural Association, Berhampur, Working President of Retired Policers’ Association, Berhampur and Joint Secretary of “Swagatika”(a multilingual Poets” organization, Cuttack(Orissa)
